About

Our Story
so far…

Be part of our mission to help every woman transform her pain, trauma and tragedy into stories of hope, strength and courage—a sisterhood.

Welcome to KZ Qigong

We are Kathy and Zuza, Qigong instructors and sisters at heart, with a mission to empower women of all ages in need of personal healing with therapeutic Qigong exercises—join our sisterhood—Rise Up, Girl!

We are dedicated to help every woman transform her pain, trauma and tragedy into stories of hope, strength and courage.

We first met through our mutual love for martial arts at the very first international summer camp of Yang’s Martial Arts Association (YMAA) in Hungary 2000—Kathy (USA) and Zuza (Poland).

A sister is someone
who listens when you talk, laughs when you laugh, and holds your hand when you cry…

We instantly connected upon meeting. We were so impressed and inspired by each other’s talents, enthusiasm and dedication. After meeting each other again at a few of the following summer camps in Europe, we developed a close friendship.

Once women find sisterhood,
there’s nothing stronger.

ZOE KRAVITZ

As we went on to pursue our individual studies, Kathy in Clinical Exercise Physiology and Zuza in Law, we lost touch for awhile. During this time, we went through our own personal hardships and worked a lot on our own self-development, health and healing.

If you’re always
trying to be normal,
you will never know
how amazing you can be.

MAYA ANGELOU

Let your smile
change the world,
but don’t let the world
change your smile.

CONNOR FRANTA

We eventually reconnected in October 2017 by a chance meeting in Portugal. Catching up after 11 years apart, we were deeply moved by each other’s life stories. During our talk at the Sanctuary of Fátima, we were inspired to start a project together to help other women with similar struggles and need of healing.

The best thing
to hold onto in life
is each other.

AUDREY HEPBURN

Only do
what your heart
tells you.

PRINCESS DIANA

Our goals and purpose for this project were further fueled and inspired by the many stories we heard from different women along our life path.

Among others, it is worth to mention: the Me Too movement; stories of breast and ovarian cancer survivors; inspiring women with disabilities who run marathons and climb the highest mountains; our own strong mothers; women who have successfully overcome their eating disorders; women who have experienced mental or physical abuse and violence; as well as many women who have felt lost, sad or hopeless.

What defines us
is how well we rise
after we fall.

ZIG ZIGLAR

She needed a HERO,
So that’s what she BECAME.

All these compelling stories grew into our main focus and motivation—ultimately, leading us to create our women-focused Qigong programs for healing and harmonizing the body and mind.

I don’t claim to have found the truth, but
I know it has found me.

SARA GROVES

When I let go of what I am,
I become
what I might be.

LAO TZU

After more than two years of researching and collecting ideas, plus teaching, and also pursuing professional studies in therapeutic Qigong, our project took shape at last in January 2020.

Our mission is to empower women
of all ages in need of personal healing
with therapeutic Qigong exercises.

We teamed up to start the KZ Qigong project with the mission to empower women of all ages in need of personal healing with therapeutic Qigong exercises. We kicked off our project with International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2020 introducing our signature KZ Qigong for Her program. Women from all walks of life in Lisbon, Portugal led by Zuza and in Boston, MA, USA led by Kathy came together eager to connect, celebrate our womanhood, and create a safe environment for each other to share and heal.

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

MARK TWAIN

Looking after
my health today
gives me a better
hope for tomorrow.

ANNE WILSON SCHAEF

There is nothing stronger
than a broken woman
who has rebuilt herself.

The journey of
a thousand miles
begins with
a single step.

Take this step with us on this amazing journey and be part of our story and sisterhood.

Rise above the storm
and you will find
the sunshine.

Once we believe in ourselves,
we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight,
or any experience that reveals the human spirit.
